Description: Up for bid in this auction is a blue enamel lapel pin or badge which represents the 1897 National Congress of Parents and Teachers. The National Congress of Parents and Teachers was founded on February 17, 1897 and was the organization which preceded the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). The pin is in 2 pieces, each of which is marked "GF" on the back meaning gold-filled. The actual pin works just fine on this little lapel pin. On the top portion of the pin is an acorn on the left, and the bottom portion of the pin is round and measures 1/4 inch in diameter. The bottom portion of the pin depicts what I believe is an oak tree surrounded by blue enamel and the words "1897 National Congress of Parents and Teachers". The pin is in very good condition, it is a little dirty and could use a light cleaning. If you have questions or would like to see more pictures please write me using the eBay message system.
