These were printed by Thomas De La Rue and Company in London and issued in 1942 during World War II. “The Central Bank of China” was located in Nanking (now Nanjing), China. After the “Chinese Civil War”, the bank was relocated to Taiwan by the Nationalist government. The bank was renamed to the “Central Bank of the Republic of China” in 1949. In 1961, the bank was replaced by the “Bank of Taiwan” as the central bank of Taiwan. On July 7, 1937 the "Second Sino-Japanese War" had begun when Japan invaded China.
