Description: Set of 22 60th Chinese Communist Party Anniversary PostersSet of 22 Cultural Revolution era posters in original envelope. Zhanshi Chubanshe, 1981. Each poster 14.75x20.5 inches. The set is entitled Sixty Years of the Great Communist Party, 1921-1981. Posters very good condition with horizontal creases, in original heavy brown paper envelope with red bands and titles in Chinese. Posters are very good, envelope has horizontal crease, soil and two holes near the edges. Missing two posters (nos. 6 and 7), from what was a set of 24. A series commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. The set chronicles in photographic illustrations, maps, text and captions the rise of the Communist Party in chapters of years – 1919-23, 1924-27, 1927-37, 1945-49, 1949-56, 1957-66, 1966-76, and 1976-1981 – each group of years illustrated by two or three pages. Some of the events pictured include the start of rural collectivization, the first session of the National People’s Congress in 1954, Mao Zedong and the other five main members of the Party elected by the First Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the Party, Shanghai workers demonstrating during the May 4th Movement in the 1920s, a young Zhou Enlai and others at the founding of the Awakening Society in Tianjin in 1920, a map showing the distribution of Communist groups before the founding of the Party and much more. The final poster is a full color image of the hammer and sickle flag flying with a large group of citizens celebrating below it.
