Description: Antique German China Flat Head Nanking Body Doll 14” Handmade Dress Wonderful estate find! 14” China Porcelain Fat Top, Hand Painted Doll. 4” head/shoulder bust. Arms and legs incised with the number 3. Molded legs, painted orange boots and green garters. The shoulders are stitched in to a Nanking cloth body, a cotton cloth body style of doll made in the last quarter of the 19th century. Handmade dress. Likely not original to the piece. Seller has chosen not to disturb condition by removing stitches to determine if there is a mark on the bust. Believed to be a Hertwig doll made in Germany and imported by Dotter & Bawo in the 1880s. Obvious areas of wear as shown. Some minor paint loss to back of head, chip to inner left hand, paint loss to boots, hairline crack to glaze right leg shin. Discoloration to dress and a couple of holes as shown. Discoloration to cotton cloth body as well. Please review all photos as they are part of the description.
