Description: CDV 1870s couple strange pose, elaborate outfit with hat, jewelry straw floor This one is really a bit of a head-scratcher. This couple almost looks as if they are sitting for two different portraits. On the left is our gentleman, sitting easy in his suit with working boots, on a fussy chair with straw as a floor covering. On the right, we have our very tall, straight lady, in a very stiff dress, tight on the long bodice, with ruching on the skirt. She wears an elaborate hat or headdress, and has ribbons or something else under her chin, almost looking like she is wearing a neck brace. She and her husband look in different directions.The card measures 3.75 x 2.375 inches, and image measures 3.625 x 2.25 inches.There is no backmark. Yellowing to image. Fading to image. Soiling to card and image.Left side of card has been trimmed. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
