Description: I engraved this mythological image by hand copper after the original by Italian Renaissance artist Giovanni Battista Palumba, Leda and the Swan, c.1510. Individually inked, wiped, and printed by hand on an intaglio press; vine ink on 100% archival paper from Germany. Engraved area is about 4.5” tall by 3” wide; sheet about 7.5” tall by 5.3” wide. (Copper plate pictured in the last photo is not included.) Shipped in archival glassine in a rigid mailer. Palumba created some very interesting images, and the depiction in this work always surprised me, considering he created it for an audience over 500 years ago. Wonderful figurative arrangement with a multitude of landscape and background items.
