Title pages read: Redelyke Godtsdienst, in welke de goddelyke waerheden des genaden-verbondts worden verklaert, tegen partyen beschermt, en tot de practyke aengedrongen Translation: Reasonable Service [to God], in which the divine values of the covenant of grace are explained, to protect from divisions, and to encourage them to be practiced. This is a 2 Volume set. Volume 1 was published in 1749. It has 1134 pages plus a section with references and explanations of 21 pages for a total of 1155 pages. Volume 2 contains Section 2 (774 plus 14 pages of notes) and Section 3 (360 plus 8 pages of notes) for a total of 1156 pages. The different spellings on the title pages (old spelling) and spines (modern spelling) indicate that the volumes have been rebound. Green boards with leather spines and gilt lettering/design. Both volumes are in Very Good condition. Note: There is a genuine signature which bleeds through the page after the section titled Berigt aan de Lezer (Message to the Reader). It is signed a Brakel 3 gr [generatie] Kluijt. It cannot be a Brakel's signature, since he passed away in 1711. However, he had a son-in-law named Rev. van der Kluijt (who was with a Brakel when he died). Thus, the signature most likely belongs to a Brakel's grandson. Covers have convex curves.
