Description: Savinelli Estella Hand Made in Italy. Large, Thick Walled, Rusticated Dublin. Acrylic Non-Filter Stem. I have a couple of things that I need to note about this pipe, but before I do. I also need to stress how none of these things I am about to mention are a big deal and affect the performance of the pipe in any way. They are all minor cosmetic issues that I feel should be known when considering this pipe. So here we go..... There was a decent amount of charring on the inner rim. I beveled the edge to minimize the amount, but some unfortunately remain. The tobacco chamber had a lot of very, very hard cake. I reamed and sanded the absolut hell out of it, but I couldn't get it 100% because of the tapered chamber drilling. It's about 90-95%. In the pictures, it may look like charring, but I assure you it isn't. The acrylic stem had a small bite through on the underside and major tooth damage on the upper side and button. I filled the hole and reshaped everything. It doesn't look brand new, but it is 99% better than it was when I got it. The stem also has some weird stress cracks on the underside, which could be seen in the last picture. I do not know what causes this. It could be from heat, but it is totally functional and only cosmetic. Also, the stems tennon looks like it was also heated up to smash the tip. Sometimes, this is done on a loose stem. It looks a little burnt and slightly melted, but it functions fine and can't be seen unless the stem is removed. The stem isn't loose at all, so I guess it worked, but someone got a little carried away. Besides all the work done on the stem and rim, it has been fully cleaned and sanitized inside and out. Reamed, restained, buffed, and waxed. It's used but ready to be smoked again. It still has many years left in it. Please don't let everything I just mentioned scare you away from this pipe. It's big, it's beautiful and I guarantee that it's a great smoker. I try my best to take good pictures from many angles. But, since I am not a professional photographer, the pipes always look better in person. If you require more pictures on a pipe you're interested in, just ask. I try very hard to get the "ghosts" out of every pipe. This is usually possible, but occasionally, no matter how hard I try, and with every method exhausted (salt & alcohol, Everclear & cotton balls, retort with Everclear, ozone treatment), it just isn't possible. It's the nature of the beast, I suppose. God knows what some people smoked and how much of it. I hand sand and polish all my pipe stems rather than on the buffing wheel. It's just my preference. I also always ream the bowls down to briar. I do not leave any cake. I follow it up with an organic food grade bowl coating. If bowl coatings aren't your thing, then it's easily removed with a damp paper towel. I very rarely use tenon expanders on loose stems. Most of the time, bees wax does the trick just fine. I prepare all my pipes to my preferences. If they aren't your preferences, I'm sorry but you don't have to buy any. This is how I prefer it to be done. You don't have to agree and again, you don't have to buy any. If any significant repairs were done, then it will definitely be stated in detail. All pipes that I sell as refurbished, refreshed, repaired, restored, etc. will be in ready to smoke condition. Just add your tobacco of choice, and you're ready to go. The prices I ask for my pipes are a reflection of the work that went into them and the materials/supplies used. This is not a cheap process and can be very time-consuming. I offer my services on pipes so anyone interested can contact me for more information. I also buy pipes. It can be 1 pipe or many. Just contact me to work it out the details.
