Description: JUST FOR ONE WEEK - REDUCED FROM $365 For anyone who feels a connection with the Titanic, this item is a must-have! I bought it myself twenty years ago from an old antique shop in Colorado. The Manager was unable to tell me where it originated, mentioning simply that it was from a "deceased estate." Whether it was made in the US or brought here by a European immigrant he had no knowledge. It is an amazing tribute to the great ship however, with only minimal mention of the tragedy and loss of life. It looks to be somewhat vintage, but this may have been the intent of the maker. I'd be guessing it's at the very least, forty years old.Trying to take photographs through the thick glass was not easy - very few were in focus - but it's all I can do with the equipment I have. The one plaque I could not get to focus was that immediately to the right of the polished name plate beneath the hull. It reads thus: "The great ship was over 850' long displaced by 66.000 tons of water, boasted three propellers powered by triple expansion and turbine engines. She carried 2,223 passengers and crew. The lifebelt (image 2) is a work of art! The entire case measures 42 X 13 X 3 1/2 inches and weighs a hefty 21 pounds. It has been on display in our home in that small hallway, on that glass cabinet for many years - it being far safer there than hanging on a wall. The item when sold will need probably Fedex to deliver it. It's far too heavy for USPS. I am just estimating the shipping cost here. If, as I expect, it exceeds this, I will bear the expense. It is time to find a new appreciative home for the model.
