Description: ***********The Ronda-Matic 1238 automatic movement with quickset date function that runs about 2 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. Both the day and date wheels roll over perfectly as they should. Given that the movement runs a bit fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.*********** This vintage 1970's Clinton diver, which came from the estate of its original owner, has under the heavily scratched crystal a pristine matte black dial. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The world time bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL WATERRESISTANT SHOCKRESISTANT" with "20 ATM" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "CWC" followed by "HONG KONG" and "2578-LH." The crystal should to be replaced.The 25 jewels "RONDA-MATIC 1238" stamped automatic movement with quickset date function runs strong, albeit fast, and both the day and date wheels roll over perfectly as they should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by moving the hands backwards. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. The crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs a bit fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 40 mm excluding the crown, approximately 43 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 12.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable thickness.A complete overhaul is recommended.
