Description: Vintage Chinese JINTONG & YUNU (Golden Boy & Jade Girl) Satsuma Rare Vessels We call these "rare vessels" because we could not find another pair like them, despite insistent research: For one, they are not holding a lucky coin but rather the implement / pipe depicted in the pics. At first we thought they could be a reference to the sticks used in the related pitch-pot / touhu game, but these ones are bent by design, so they cannot be throwing sticks. Also, these appear to be a hollow conduit connected into the bodies of the figurines. Lastly, the figurines are also hollow, as the opening at the tops of their heads clearly indicate. They may be missing a stopper, but we are not sure. On the other hand, the bottoms appear to have some sort of stoppers incorporated.They are very sweet and crafted with attention to detail. Their faces are almost a bisque finish, while their clothes are a glossier, luster finish.
